The Goose has been on mid-winter break this week, which means he doesn’t have school for five whole days! Last year when he was on break we went to Cheboygan for a few days to visit my mom. This year we decided to do the same thing.
On our way up north, The Goose was sure to tell me about all his plans for our trip. He was going to go swimming at the beach. He was going to go to Yeck’s for some dinosaur chicken nuggets. He was going to go to the Big Dipper for some ice cream. And then we were going to go golfing in Mackinaw City. Once we arrived, and he saw that it was even colder and snowier here than it was at home, his plans quickly changed.
While we’ve been visiting Cheboygan, it has been super cold. (So cold, in fact, that school was cancelled for two days!). So there was no swimming. No golf. No Yeck’s. And definitely no ice cream. What we had was snow. And lots of it. So, we decided to make the best of it. We went sledding. We built a miniature snowman. We went to the Cheboygan Public Library to look around, and then we went back again for Bedtime Storytime – which was fantastic! We went to Big Boy for dinner one night, ate pizza at This Old House another night, and on our last night in town we went to Kingston Theatre to see the new Spongebob Movie.
Sure, The Goose’s plans sounded much better than what we actually did, but we still had fun. Even it we did freeze our tails off! Plus, knowing we’ll be coming home to a newly remodeled bathroom made the trip so much better. (Well, it did for me anyway!).
