This week, my husband bought a new car, The Goose came thisclose to scoring a goal during his soccer game, and I burned a pile of plastic dishes on my electric stove, paid $12.51 for eight boxes of cereal and a gallon of milk, and made the most delicious pot of roasted eggplant soup.
A few days ago, The Goose and I went out to the garden and picked all the eggplant that were left. There was a lot. Since my husband is the only one in our house who like eggplant, I had to come up with some recipes. Fast.
It’s that time of year! Apples are everywhere, and we love it!
My family is lucky enough to live in an area surrounded by apple orchards. We have made it a family tradition to visit the same orchard every year, and while we are there I force The Goose and his Dad to sit and eat a doughnut on the same bench every year. (To be fair, I force them to sit on the bench, they eat the doughnuts because they are delicious!)
Up until three years ago, I had never owned a dishwasher. I had always washed dishes by hand, but with a busy toddler under foot, I was having a hard time keeping up. Finally, my husband and I decided to look for a portable dishwasher on Craig’s List. Luckily, we found one pretty quickly, and once we brought it home and plugged it in I was ecstatic. The dishwasher changed my life.
My kitchen looked cleaner, because there were no longer dirty dishes filling up my sink. I became a more adventurous cook, because I no longer dreaded the task of washing all the dishes after the meal was served. Best of all, I no longer had to worry about my son pulling random dishes from the sink and hiding them around the house.
